No you weren't explaining, you were asking a question:

So you think Karyuu doesn't like the way her avatar looks at all and is just having it there to say "lol look at me"???
See?

I agree with the above, I think Torqual's long post would of been better without the insults. I still think it had valid points in it.

Explaining by making a point, yes, but that's not OMG nevermind, this is derailing too much into stupid.

There was. But come on, this is guru. Every thread is like this. It's much easier to snipe than to tolerate being sniped at for 12 pages. I'm entitled to join in....after all I am not St. Torqual.

When you read pages of ignorant people saying "QQ more" to your long and thought out post, it kind of makes you lose interest in continuing to post constructively yourself. I accept my error.

The discussion has most definitely run its course.

Actually, I could open a bigger can of worms, considering I've been defending the cartography mod,

/Dons Devil's Advocate hat.

Question: Does the mod affect gameplay?

Answer: Popular opinion says no.

Another Question: Does Legendary Cartographer affect the amount of time we recieve the favour of the Gods.

Answer: Oh yes.

The title means something to me personally :] In every game I have played, and in all the previous guilds I have joined, I've been an "Explorer." Since GW has an explorer/cartographer title, I figure I should continue with my tradition.

Nah, tbh I only just thought of that, and it is quite a big issue really as favour affects every single player in the game, indirectly and directly. You could potentially argue that it even affects the economy as if this mod is really creating LGMCs all over the place then if it was taken away it could reduce access to FoW and the Underworld, prices of ectos etc.

Them's big worms crawling out of that can. Or I may be full of it, can't really say as I've never been a hardcore farmer or trader.

Frankly, despite his commendably large thought out post (and despite the fact that it's a bit of an epic rant) the moment someone dismisses other people's opinions as "bilge" and "excrement" and makes assumptions that those people have no idea what they're talking about then they've effectively shot their own argument in the foot anyway.

I think there was a vaild discussion in here at some point.
QFT. Ignoring and insulting people because they disagree with you is a ridiculous policy.

I can't believe Galie sided with the OP.

Heheh, Saraphim

At the same time, you could make that same argument about guides and wikis. More and more people have access to them, so more and more people are finding out where to go for skill capping, as one example. Guides and wikis sure affect the Legendary status for that title track.

I would like to thank the OP for bringing this mod to my attention. I haven't been following the mod community so didn't really know such a thing existed. I find the cartographer titles to be a real PITA. I tried it out and wow, i'll be grandmaster in a couple days.

Thanks for the 4 titles, you rock!

Lol. And so the circle closes !

For what it's worth, Torqual I do see your point. I don't particularly agree that the mod makes it quite that easy, you still have to do a lot of work. I remember I finally finished Tyria about 12 months after I started playing and I was ... relieved more than anything else, but there is a sense of satisfaction to be gained from doing something by yourself. No mod can take that away from you.

I don't wipe my nose without first consulting Wiki these days. I really don't see much of a difference. I guess I'm a big ol' cheater.

Shrug.

I don't care for titles, and I have no respect for the titles on other people's characters. I think they are a silly waste of time.

I'm not alone in this view.

I'd prefer they not exist in GW:2, though I'm certain they will.

The best thing is to look at these things with an exaggerated view otherwise it's hard to tell if something is cheating. I think if one is to be truly honest, it is some what cheating (or else it wouldn't be used). Though also, if I'm honest I don't really care too much.

I hope I haven't implied I actually care too much if someone cheats. That is why (up until now) I tried to keep personal views out of it. I find arguing is best when you don't get so personal.

Respect for that.
But did you think a bit about the HoM issue concerning it?

As you see titles mean a bit more then some text flashing under your characters name.
I think Anet can soon flush a lot of the titles, since not all got them equally.
Hope that mods will not be permitted for GW2, or that they think a bit more about how they implement title tracks, so you actually got to do the same for them from the very beginning to the very end.

Torqual, I understand your concerns, and this thread will be included in this week's community summary. I honestly don't expect that the game will be altered to revert the newly-changed parameters back to what they once were. But I will pass along how you feel about it, principally for future consideration.
Pray tell, Gaile, exactly what is changed by TexMod? It does not modify any in-game files, so how exactly is anyone other than the user incovenienced by this program? And if a person decides to inconvenience themselves, well they'd have only themselves to blame wouldn't they?

Furthermore, if the program actually was a cheat, then explain to me this. Why, then, is there an entire page devote to it, on the OFFICIAL Wiki, with comments from Emily stating that it is okay to use but not to contact support if it breaks our game because they will not support it? To anyone reading that page, it looks like it is in fact PERMITTED by Anet to use. The OP just wants a bigger e-peen for achieving something without aids that many people used. All of them should not be punished for using a permitted program to achieve a title that only affects them and not other users, and does not change the game client in any way, shape, or form. Nor the server, either. The page in question is here: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Texmod

As others in the thread have stated, Anet has more important matters to focus on than one poster's QQ about worked harder for a title than others. Please do us all a favor and take that out of the summary. There's NO problem here, and we'd rather see time devoted to better and more useful things than this.

I play GW with a cinema screen, yo. Then when the enemy casts, it shows up as a huge bar and it is so huge I can react in a nano second to interrupt it... Oh also, I can see the fog over the map, without having to hack!

So... Don't cheat, get yourself a cinema screen.

Torqual, shut up... if you think that them doing a map overlay is cheating then,, you using the internet to find glitches, or to compare maps is also cheating. you had help and so did they... they were just smart enough to do a photoshop overlay. stop being jealous.

And hello to all of my fellow Legendary Cartogrophers.

PS - I used photoshop after i reached 99.8%........ so i guess i cheated to. lol
